Stay close to the White House
In the running list of locations where the phrase “if these walls could talk” best applies, the White House has to be near the top. Every president since John Adams has made his home and office at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, and the Kimpton Banneker Hotel is not only within walking distance — it also boasts incredible views of the White House, straight down 16th Street.
That’s a pretty fun fact. Here are a few others:
- The White House got its name from Teddy Roosevelt in 1901.
- Keeping the house in that signature white hue requires 570 gallons of paint.
- Among the 132 rooms are a flower shop, a movie theater, a bowling alley, and a dentist office.
